The ending of the 2025 Polish Rally Championship was not supposed to look like this. Łukasz Byśkiniewicz and Łukasz Jastrzębski won the Rally of Nysa, the final round of the Polish Rally Championship (RSMP). However, due to a tragic accident in the Polish Historic Rally Championship, Byśkiniewicz’s first career victory faded into the background. On Special Stage 6, the BMW M3 crew of Artur Sękowski and Maciej Krzysik crashed into a tree. The driver was killed instantly, and the co-driver, suffering from severe burns, was taken to hospital. The rally was stopped, and the results were confirmed after six stages. Byśkiniewicz and Jastrzębski were fastest on five of them, claiming a dominant victory in tragic circumstances. Thanks to the points earned, the TVN TURBO crew secured the title of Second Vice-Champions of Poland in the top class, Class 2. The unfortunate events of the Rally of Nysa left all crews departing in deep sadness.
Łukasz Byśkiniewicz:
“These are very difficult moments for us, when a fellow rally driver loses his life during a rally. It reminds us how thin the line is between the great joy of motorsport and the risk of losing health or life. Motorsport has always been dangerous, which is why minimizing risk is so important — although not always possible, as rallying is the most unpredictable sport in the world.
In the Rally of Nysa, I competed with a new co-driver, Łukasz Jastrzębski. The change required extra focus on getting used to a new voice. From the very beginning, we worked well together, which we showed by winning the shakedown. The Nysa stages were incredibly fast — on one of them, our average speed reached 137 km/h. We won 5 out of the 6 completed stages, taking both mine and Łukasz’s first overall rally victory in a round of the Polish Championship. Despite that, we left Nysa deeply saddened and devastated by what happened in the Historic Polish Rally Championship.
I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family of Artur Sękowski, and I wish Maciej Krzysik a quick recovery and strength in his fight for health.”
Łukasz Jastrzębski:
“One would like to talk about our fantastic Rally of Nysa, but in this situation, it doesn’t matter — because one of us has died, a member of our rally family. It’s a heartbreaking event that affects every one of us. We experienced a lot of joy and satisfaction from winning special stages, and I was truly impressed by Łukasz’s driving. However, what happened on Stage 6 means we will not have good memories of this rally. I would like to thank Łukasz for his trust and for inviting me to the very fast seat of his Škoda Fabia RS Rally2.”
