The Rally of Silesia began for Łukasz Byśkiniewicz and Daniel Siatkowski like a perfect script – fast pace, confident driving, and 3rd place overall after just three special stages. Everything indicated that the TVN TURBO RALLY TEAM crew would fight for a podium finish until the very end.
However, fate wrote a completely different chapter – on a regular liaison section, their Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 suddenly went silent. A computer failure immobilized the car for over 20 minutes, and a time penalty brutally dropped the team to 24th place… Nevertheless, they did not give up, and thanks to extremely fast driving, they crossed the finish line in 7th place.
Łukasz Byśkiniewicz:
“We started the Rally of Silesia very well, placing on the podium after three special stages. As we approached the start of the fourth stage, for reasons unclear to us, the engine stopped. According to Skoda Motorsport, it was a computer error – a situation difficult to explain. We were late to the start and received a 4.5-minute penalty. We knew we could forget about the podium. Despite that, we didn’t give up – we took up the challenge and climbed from 24th to 7th place. It’s a real shame about this failure, because we were driving excellently and had a real chance for an outstanding result in such a competitive rally. Well, that’s what you call true bad luck! Ahead of us is the Rally of Nysa – a completely new round in the RSMP calendar. That is where the battle for the Polish vice-champion title will be decided. I would also like to sincerely congratulate Jakub Matulka and Damian Sytem for winning the Polish championship after a perfect season.”
Daniel Siatkowski:
“At the Rally of Silesia, we had a very strong pace on the special stages. However, our sporting result was affected by the situation on the liaison section, where the engine stopped and we were 27 minutes late to the start. We received a huge time penalty and lost our chance for a good result. We are disappointed with the smaller points haul, but at the same time, we are satisfied with our pace, which was very competitive. Proof of that is moving up from 24th to 7th place in the overall classification.”
